About the Pacific Northwest Ballet
The Pacific Northwest Ballet is a company that has grown dramatically since its birth in 1972. Although at that time it was known as the Pacific Northwest dance association, under the leadership of Leon Kalimos as the executive director, the company soon became an independent entity ready for the stage. In 1977 the company became what we know it as today as a highly acclaimed Pacific Northwest Ballet.
The Pacific Northwest Ballet is proud to perform for almost 11,000 subscribers. The company is also known to tour abroad to England, China, Turkey and Australia, performing a wide range of repertoire. Some include pieces from the famous George Balanchine, Kent Stowell and the works of Mark Morris to name a few.
Today, the Pacific Northwest Ballet is composed of forty-six talented dancers over half of which trained at the professional school of the PNB. The school began in 1974 and today offers an open program for recreational dancers as well as a professional program, with a more intense and career focussed curriculum.
