A night at a ballet performance

A ballet performance is when a professional company performs their dances for a large group of people or audience. These dances could be a story which may have two or three acts. Often these stories are classic or traditional ballets that have been staged by many companies all over the world. A different style of ballet performance can be a mixture of modern or contemporary styles of dance that may simply portray a mood or theme.

A ballet performance can be help in a large or small theatre or even in an outdoor stage. They can be during the evening or in the afternoon time called a matinee. Often before opening night a dress rehearsal is needed to ensure the sets, scenery and costumes are working properly for the dancers and the choreography of the piece.

A school of dance can also put on a ballet performance. Sometimes they are called a year end recital or school show. This time of year is very special for the students to show how they have progressed during the year.
