Strength comes from the ballet barre

The foundation of any beautiful movement first comes from the BALLET BARRE. It is through the basic technique that is repeatedly practiced at the BALLET BARRE that provides a dancer with the strength to perform this athletic form of art.

The beginning of each and every class starts with exercises at the BALLET BARRE. Usually thirty to forty minutes of a one and a half hour dance class is spent there warming up a dancers body. Starting with PLIES, TENDUES, and ROND DE JAMBE exercises among many others, this allows the dancer to focus on their technique and find their "center", the abdominal muscles. Stretching is another important exercise. By using the bar, dancers can work on increasing their flexibility and range of motion necessary for executing most movements.

Each dancer must give special attention to the time spent at the BALLET BARRE. It is here that dancers build the basis of accurate muscle memory and grace to eventually transform their steps and positions into beautiful choreography.
