The Boston Ballet performs
The Boston Ballet founded by E. Virginia Williams in 1963 is the first professional company in New England. Today, the Boston Ballet is one of the premiere dance companies in North America and the world.
The thirty-six hundred seat Wang Theatre is home to the Boston Ballet in Boston,Massachusetts. The company performs a month long production of the Nutcracker which is viewed by more than one hundred twenty thousand people. This is the largest viewed ballet production in the world. The company also strives to maintain timeless classics in its program such as The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet.
The Boston Ballet also has a dance school. The school teaches approximately two thousand students a year ranging from the ages of three years of age to twenty one. In conjunction the school also has an education outreach program which enables young students to attend workshops, as well puts on the matinee performances of the Nutcracker to twelve thousand school children.
