Various ballet barres are available
When looking at dance studios, there are some common structures found. Hardwood or spring flooring, mirrors and BALLET BARRES are found in every studio. BALLET BARRES are used to teach new steps and aid in teaching form and poise to the dancer. This important support is also used in the aid of stretching to help make the dancer more flexible.
There are different varieties of BALLET BARRES. Some of these varieties are freestanding, fixed and portable. They all are very important tools to the ballet dancer and the studio. The "freestanding" style is designed to be used in the centre of a dance floor, while the "fixed" style is mounted to a wall, preferably next to mirror for the dancers view on their form. The portable bar is used by dancers while travelling. It allows for a portable studio to be set up to allow training to occur where there is no formal studio.
BALLET BARRES is made from different materials. Traditionally, wood is primarily used. Pine and hardwoods are the most common but metals are now being used for cost and portability.
